A Heartfelt Journey: My Visit to Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice

Join me as I share my heartfelt journey through Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, a sanctuary of love, care, and surprising reunions.

Last week, I had the privilege of visiting a place that’s close to my heart – Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. I initially went to donate some of my books, hoping they might bring a bit of comfort to the families there. Little did I know, I was in for a day full of surprises and heartfelt connections.

The hospice, led by the wonderful Hayley Manley, is a haven of tranquillity and warmth. It’s beautifully designed, with every detail thoughtfully planned to provide comfort and care to children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

But what truly moved me was the holistic support they offer. From the children in their care to the entire family, the team at Noah’s Ark works tirelessly to provide emotional support and guidance.

As my visit was coming to an end, I had a surprise reunion with Alex Amzallag, a social worker at the hospice. Alex had worked with my daughter, Sophie, 21 years ago when we were grappling with the loss of my husband. Seeing her again, in this place of love and support, was a poignant reminder of the enduring impact of kindness.

I also had the chance to explore The Ark, the hospice’s facility. It’s a sanctuary filled with family suites, children’s bedrooms, and a variety of activity rooms, each designed to cater to the unique needs and interests of the children. Outside, a wheelchair-accessible sensory trail winds around a 7.5-acre nature reserve, and an accessible playground and sensory garden offer additional spaces for play and relaxation.

My visit to Noah’s Ark was a journey of discovery and reconnection. I left deeply moved by the incredible work they do and the compassionate care they provide. I urge you all to learn more about Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice and consider how you might support their mission. It’s not just about making a donation; it’s about making a difference. And that difference can start with you.

Until next time,
